Married At First Sight Couple Welcome Baby Together After Wedding Was Postponed
Despite ᴄᴏʀᴏɴᴀᴠɪʀᴜs putting a stop to their appearance on Married at First Sight, lovebirds Ally Acklan and Paul Todd didn’t need the help of the TV show to fall in love and welcome a baby into the world together. Despite not actually tying the knot together, a Married at First Sight couple have proven to be one of the show’s biggest success stories, as they welcome their first child together into the world after meeting last year.
Ally Acklan and Paul Todd were due to become husband and wife after first meeting in March 2020 but, like many other couples, their wedding plans were ᴘᴏsᴛᴘᴏɴᴇᴅ ᴅᴜᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴛʜᴇ ɢʟᴏʙᴀʟ ᴏᴜᴛʙʀᴇᴀᴋ ᴏF ᴄᴏʀᴏɴᴀᴠɪʀᴜs. The would-be bride and groom were due to meet at the altar at a fancy London hotel in the most recent series of the Channel 4 show, in which couples are selected by matchmakers and only meet for the first time when exchanging vows.
However, even a ᴡᴏʀʟᴅᴡɪᴅᴇ ᴘᴀɴᴅᴇᴍɪc couldn’t stop true love, as the two potential reality TV stars ended up getting together after 33-year-old Paul convinced show bosses to give him Ally’s contact details after feeling an instant spark between them. Their episode of Married at First Sight may have been shelved, but the new parents found love with each other anyway – moving in together in Weston-Super-Mare just before 36-year-old Ally discovered she was pregnant.
Despite only knowing each other for just seven months, the besotted couple were happy to discover they were expecting their first child together back in October – with Paul popping the question to the future mother-of-his-child at a local beach. Continuing their fairy tale love story, the happy couple welcomed their daughter, Penelope into the world on July 3 and shared their news with fans in a touching YouTube video.
Medical insurance manager Ally revealed that her first child was seven days overdue and that the birth process was “ᴛʀᴀᴜᴍᴀᴛɪᴄ”.
“The birth wasn’t easy, but it was a million times worth it. After being induced we went to the delivery suite. I was contracting like the clappers apparently. I had a trauma with the cannula.”she explained, alongside fiancé Paul
She added: “My heart rate was going up and had an ᴇᴍᴇʀɢᴇɴᴄʏ Fᴏʀᴄᴇᴘs ᴅᴇʟɪᴠᴇʀʏ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴀɴ ᴇᴘɪsɪᴏᴛᴏᴍʏ. Sᴀᴅʟʏ I ʜᴀᴅ ᴀɴ ɪɴFᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ, they weren’t sure if it was sepsis, I went ᴅᴏᴡɴʜɪʟʟ really quickly. That was the scary part for Paul.”
Train driver Paul also opened up the labour experience, revealing he feared he would be raising his unborn child alone.
“I had no idea what was going on. All I knew was something wasn’t right. I was really worried. I was thinking, I can’t cope with a baby on my own. I didn’t want to lose the love of my life.” he confessed
