Mum Gave Birth To Record-Breaking 14lb 13oz Baby Bᴏʏ

A mother was amazed after giving birth to a 14lb 13oz baby – setting a new hospital record.

Jennifer Medlock said no one expected her chubby joy – named Ali – to weigh so much. The baby Bᴏʏ, weighing just over a stone, was born on December 12 at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Texas, USA.

A spokesperson for the Texas Health resource confirmed to USA Today that the 21-inch-tall Ali is the heaviest child ever born there. And the midwife to mother of two, Jennifer and father Eric, said the newborn was the largest he had ever seen.

Mrs Medlock was expecting her son to weigh around 10 lbs – the same weight as her two-year-old daughter when she was born. But speaking of her sʜᴏᴄᴋ when she was told of her son’s massive weight, she added: “We weren’t expecting 14 pounds – nobody did.”

Ali was ᴅᴇʟɪᴠᴇʀᴇᴅ by cesarean section and was initially admitted to the intensive care unit because of low ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ sugar and platelets. But he soon made a full recovery and was allowed to go home on December 19 – in time for Christmas. Mother and baby are doing well at home in Arlington.

As her due date approached, Jennifer posted photos of her baby’s large Bᴜᴍᴘ on Facebook. A friend commented: “Ali is going to be a big Bᴏʏ” – to which she replied: “Definitely!”.

The heaviest baby ever born weighed a staggering 22lbs. The Bᴏʏ was born 7ft 11in tall by his mother Anna Bates at her home in Seville, Ohio, USA, on January 19, 1879.
