A couple from Texas experienced a remarkable expansion in their family when they welcomed quadruplets this summer. Gabby Hagler, 39, and Patrick Hagler, 50, were in for a surprise during their 12-week ultrasound, as they discovered they were expecting not one, but four babies.
Initially, the couple thought they were seeing multiple views of the same baby, but the ultrasound technician’s excitement revealed the truth. There were indeed four distinct babies, each engaging in different activities. The news left the Haglers in complete shock, yet after a previous miscarriage, they were overjoyed to meet their rainbow babies.
The fraternal quadruplets, Adam, Bennett, Coby, and Dane, were born on June 22, after 34 weeks of pregnancy. The older siblings, stepbrother Paxton (12), stepsister Kalleigh (13), and brother Sammy (2), participated in choosing their names.
Although the newborns spent a few days in separate Neonatal Intensive Care Units, they quickly joined each other in the intermediate-level NICU and were soon ready to go home without any complications.
While the Haglers had originally planned to have only one more baby, they unanimously agree that the arrival of the quadruplets has tremendously transformed their lives. Patrick, a marriage and family therapist, expressed how turning 50 with four little babies has energized him, even though it required adjustments to their financial plans.
Besides the financial changes, the Haglers have been adapting to their daily routine as the quadruplets continue to grow. They estimate going through around 45 diapers, 95 wipes, and 12 to 24 bottles per day. Approximately nine hours are dedicated to feeding, burping, changing, and attending to the babies’ needs.
To help distinguish between the quadruplets, the family has assigned each baby their own color and animal theme. Adam has a blue and giraffe theme, Bennett has a green and sloth theme, Coby is often dressed in a white and panda theme, and Dane has a gray and elephant theme.
Amidst the challenges, the Haglers express gratitude for the love and support they have received from family and friends, both near and far. The older siblings have also embraced their roles, providing an extra hand as the family settles into their home in Katy, Texas.
The quadruplets have become a unifying anchor for the blended family, strengthening the dynamic among the siblings and parents. The unexpected growth in their family has brought everyone together in a cohesive and meaningful way, creating a profound sense of togetherness.
