WEEK 33

How does the baby grow?

In the 33rd week of pregnancy, the baby weighs over 1.8kg and is more than 43cm long, about the size of a pineapple. The baby is no longer wrinkled and bones are stronger.

The bones on the baby’s skull have not been pinched, can move and overlap slightly to allow the baby to easily slip through the birth path at birth. The pressure on the baby’s head during birth is so great that many babies are born with conical tips. These bones do not fit properly until the baby reaches adulthood; they can continue to grow along with the development of the baby’s brain as well as other tissues during childhood and adolescence.

Changes occurring in the mother’s body during the 33rd week of pregnancy

As the baby is taking more and more places in the womb, a lot of things start to change. If moms have strutted before, now moms may waddle and sway.

Moms may feel pain, even numbness in fingers, wrists, and hands. Like many other tissues in the body, tissues in the wrist can retain water, increasing pressure on the carpal tunnel. The nerves running through this tunnel can be constricted, causing numbness, tingling, throbbing, or dull pain. It is recommended to wear a brace to stabilize the wrist or rest the arm on a pillow while sleeping.
