11 Weeks Pregnant | Pregnancy Week by Week

WEEK 11

How does the baby grow?

This week, the baby is almost fully formed. It is almost 4cm long – the size of a fig. Baby’s hands will soon open and close into a fist; small tooth buds are starting to appear under the gums; some bones are starting to harden.

The gentle movements of the baby look like ballet moves in the water. These activities will become frequent as the baby develops much more. Moms won’t feel baby’s acrobatics for one to two months – nor the hiccups when baby’s diaphragm is formed.

Changes occurring in the mother’s body during the 11th week of pregnancy

Normally, this week, moms start feeling less tired and nauseous. However, during this period, pregnant women may experience constipation (caused by hormonal changes, which can slow down digestion) and heartburn (due to hormones relaxing the valve between the stomach and esophagus).

Don’t worry if moms haven’t gained much weight (most women only gain 1-2 kg during the first three months). Moms will soon have an appetite to increase by about 500grams per week.
