rr1 More than a fairy tale: The successful separation of twins caused a global shock.

On June 21, 2019, Yigit and Derman Evrensel will commemorate their second birthday as conjoined twins. The siblings were born in Antalya, Turkey.

Last year, their parents contacted the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, United Kingdom, and the twins underwent three surgical procedures there.

They were eventually separated on January 28 and have been monitored and receiving medical care ever since in that British facility.

When they returned to Turkey on Wednesday, the media documented their approach in an air ambulance from the Turkish Ministry of Health at Eseoga airport in the Turkish capital of Ankara.

The father of the siblings, Omer Erensel, recalled:

“Our eés have no trouble feeding themselves, everything is normal, they will begin an ideae, they were nearly reborn, and we will start from scratch.”

Fatma, the mother, conveyed her happiness at the separation of her children, who had endured separation procedures.

“I could never leave them alone, but neither could I hold or soothe them. I am relieved their suffering has ended. “I cried uncontrollably when the i separated,” she recalled.

This was our sole aspiration. Now they can play and do as they please, just like their peers,” the mother added.

The family traveled nearly 3,000 kilometers to return home and start a new chapter with the twins after escaping such traumatic and excruciating months. They will celebrate the second birthday of the children with great joy and enthusiasm.

Craniopagus describes the extremely rare occurrence of conjoined twins at birth, which occurs once every 2.5 million births. The preponderance of this condition’s cases of eés do not last longer than 24 hours.

The first attempt to separate neonates with this condition was undertaken in 1952, and to date there have been only sixty successful separations.

 

During their pregnancy, Mr. Erensel reported that doctors advised them to terminate the pregnancy, but they declined.

“We never agreed to that; Allah bestowed it upon us.” As the father recalled, we were prepared to igo with this condition, but He provided a solution, for which we are grateful, and we are now thrilled to ier to Turkey with healthy children.

As separation surgery was not possible in Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his wife Emine facilitated the twins’ medical treatment in the United Kingdom in December of last year.

The family expresses gratitude for the government’s assistance and emphasizes that it assisted them at all times to improve the twins’ condition and achieve the long-awaited separation for their health.
