Mum With Two Wombs Rare Condition Gets Pregnant Left And Right Side At Same Sime
Double womb — is a pretty rare condition. One in 1,000 to one in 1 million women worldwide, and it sometimes occurs in families. In some cases of double wombs, those two wombs share a set of Fᴀʟʟᴏᴘɪᴀɴ ᴛᴜʙᴇs, ᴏᴠᴀʀɪᴇs, ᴀ ᴄᴇʀᴠɪx and a ᴠᴀɢɪɴᴀ.
Megan Phipps was born with ᴜᴛᴇʀɪɴᴇ didelphys, a rare condition that doubles the reproductive organ. Doctors told the 24-year-old, from Lincoln, Nebraska, that she was pregnant on her left and right side.
Megan went into labour at just 22 weeks pregnant and was rushed to the Bryan Health hospital. Doctors warned her daughters would only have a 1% chance of sᴜʀᴠɪᴠᴀʟ, which was ʜᴇᴀʀᴛʙʀᴇᴀᴋɪɴɢ for the family.
The mum didn’t have friends and family there for her through ᴛʜᴇ ɢʀɪᴇF ᴅᴜᴇ ᴛᴏ Cᴏᴠɪᴅ ʀᴇsᴛʀɪᴄᴛɪᴏɴs. She is thankful that ᴍᴇᴅɪᴄᴀʟ ᴘʀᴏFᴇssɪᴏɴᴀʟs stepped up to offer support.
After spending 144 days in hospital, Reece was discharged. She became the youngest baby to ever sᴜʀᴠɪᴠᴇ at the hospital and was allowed to go home when her weight reached 8lbs.
