Suffering from a rare syndrome, a newborn baby has just been born that has been classified as an “alien” and has been abandoned by his own mother after birth.

The 35-year-old mother, Khalida Begum, gave birth to a baby on Monday night, but was completely ‘shocked’ when she saw the strangely shaped boy with a small head and large bulging eyes. The 35-year-old mother has yet to name her baby and even refuses to breastfeed.

Doctors in India made a provisional diagnosis that he had an extremely rare genetic condition called Harlequin Ichthyosis, which causes the patient to have thick skin and a disfigured figure. However, the boy’s symptoms seem to coincide with another defect called Anencephaly.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, babies are born with this condition because they are born without the upper part of the brain and skull. Specifically, the forebrain and the brainstem.

Statistically, only 5 babysitters out of every 10,000 babies born in the UK each year suffer from Harlequin Ichthyosis.

The mother of four, from Kathihar in the North Indian state of Bihar, said that when she first saw his son’s form, she asked the midwife to take the boy out of sight.

“Many parts of a baby’s body are not fully developed. When I saw my baby for the first time after birth, I was completely shocked by his ‘alien’ appearance. I was so surprised and saddened that I had to ask the midwife to take the baby out of sight. My other children were born healthy and without deformities. That took me a long time to get over the shock,” the mother shared.

Fortunately, a few hours later, she started to calm down and was happy to start breastfeeding.

Since then, villagers have flocked to the family home, believing that the boy is an incarnation of the Hindu monkey.
