After nine ᴛʀᴀᴜᴍᴀᴛɪᴄ Years Of Fᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴛʏ ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ and ᴍɪsᴄᴀʀʀɪᴀɢᴇs In Their Quest For A Family Finally Mum Has Greatest Ever Christmas Present

Her quadruplets – two sets of identical twins, at ᴏᴅᴅs of 70million-to-one – answered all her prayers.  Isla, Demi, Alyse and Milla arrived 12 weeks early in March and are sisters to Darcie, four.

Dressed up as lovely little Santas and gurgling away like good ’uns… here are the four greatest Christmas gifts mum Carla Crozier could have dreamed of. Her quadruplets – two sets of identical twins, at ᴏᴅᴅs of 70million-to-one – answered all her prayers.

In fact, Carla admits she and builder husband Paul, 43 are so sleep deprived, they haven’t shared their marital bed for months. The weary mum adds: “I am sleeping in the same room as the quads so if they wake up it’s less disruptive because I can almost soothe them in my sleep. It’s better for Paul too, as he has to go out to work every day and it means he isn’t being ᴄᴏɴsᴛᴀɴᴛʟʏ ᴅɪsᴛᴜʀʙᴇᴅ. “We don’t get any time where it’s just the two of us any more. Once Darcie has gone to bed, we’re both too tired to watch TV together and we’re normally asleep by nine. The quads have definitely put our ¬relationship ᴏɴ ʜᴏʟᴅ!”

The couple ᴇɴᴅᴜʀᴇᴅ ɴɪɴᴇ ᴛʀᴀᴜᴍᴀᴛɪᴄ ʏᴇᴀʀs ᴏF ɴᴇɢᴀᴛɪᴠᴇ ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ ᴛᴇsᴛs ᴀɴᴅ ᴍɪsᴄᴀʀʀɪᴀɢᴇs in their quest for a family. It took five years just to have little Darcie, who finally came along in 2013 thanks to Fᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴛʏ ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ on the NHS. They went on to try for a second child through self-funded IVF – wiping out all of their savings.

By the summer of 2016 they decided to have one last shot at giving Darcie a sibling and took out a loan for a final IVF attempt – after spending a total of £16,000. And the sʜᴏᴄᴋᴇᴅ ᴘᴀɪʀ ᴡᴇʀᴇ sᴛᴜɴɴᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ ᴅɪsᴄᴏᴠᴇʀ in September last year that Carla was expecting quadruplets.

Carla was delighted – yet, ¬understandably, a little ᴀᴘᴘʀᴇʜᴇɴsɪᴠᴇ too.

She goes on: “Before they arrived, I worried that I wouldn’t have enough love for four babies. But my love for each of them is overwhelming.

“Darcie also adores them. She gets so excited when they do something new and is brilliant at making them laugh.

Carla said: “We have managed to keep costs down by buying everything secondhand. The best thing we bought is four baby swings for them to nap in. ”

As for telling apart each set of twins, it took Carla three months to be confident she wouldn’t mix them up.

“Paul is fine telling the ᴅɪFFᴇʀᴇɴᴄᴇ if both girls are together. But he sometimes still gets confused if they are not together. Nobody else has a clue though, so we still keep their identity bracelets on so that other people ᴄᴀɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ᴛʜᴇᴍ ᴀᴘᴀʀᴛ.” she says

Life has definitely changed a lot. I have no social life now whatsoever. But I have no regrets at all. Having quads is an amazing experience and I am so excited for the future.

Doting dad Paul says: “Our house has become a mad house, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Just seeing the smiles on all my girls’ faces is the best thing. Christmas Day is going to be so special.”
