Abandoned newborn baby covered in ant bites is found alive under a motorway viaduct in China
This footage shows the moment police officers find an abandoned newborn baby with his face covered in ant bites in the bushes under a motorway.
The infant child, who is reportedly just one month old, was found underneath a viaduct in the town of Nanlang, in Zhongshan City in South China’s Guangdong Province.
Resident Mr Cheng reported the find to the police after claiming he heard sounds similar to a ‘cat’ on the morning of 23rd September.

He followed the cries and found the newborn alone in the thick bushes.
Mr Cheng said: ‘He was covered by an umbrella and wrapped in a thin blanket.’
Body-worn camera footage shows officers with the Lanbian Police Station finding the newborn shortly after.
Policeman Yang Qijin recalled: ‘We found the child inside a quilt. His eyes, nose and mouth were covered in ants, which were biting him.’
The cops found a baby bottle, a flask of hot water, baby formula, nappies and baby clothes nearby.
There was also an envelope containing 120 RMB (£13), but no notes or letters relating to the boy’s identity or that of his parents were found at the scene.
Medics at Nanlang Hospital said the boy was in stable health and had no visible deformities or birth defects
Officer Yang added: ‘Besides the ant bite marks, we not found no other abnormalities on him.’

He has been handed over to the Zhongshan Child Welfare Hospital for further care while police track down his mother.
